Welcome to the bit about me
Pokey (aka Flatliner, Dr .Uggs, The Instigator and numerous others)Now I'm not going to do the bit about age, coz I'm not old!
I have all ways loved partying and have my very own party ball ( which I sometimes lend out without me being there but that ain't often. ) I believe in if its not fun, then I'm not doing it .
I can't remember the exact date I got into the scene but let me tell you some guy called T Edison was Djing and there wasn't too many 'remixes' about... that's for sure.
I vaguely remember going to the Slough centre on a Friday night and coming out of a club in Maidenhead called Valbonne's on a Sunday night with a big Happy blur in the middle , my life changed forever
It was on one of these occasions that I had the thought I would love to be able to do what the DJs had just done to me for the weekend, so off I went and brought a pair of decks (no one told me you needed pitch control ) but I soon caught on : ).
I then met a guy called 'Double Barrel Dave' who showed me the way .
To pay for my vinyl addiction I thought that I better do some sort of work so I started to do weddings, birthdays and pub nights (You know...playing 'YMCA' and things like that) Not easy when my heart was with hardcore and house, but it paid for my affliction. It was soon after this that I met The Wax Equestrian (see chain of events on
about us page)I have played all over the country doing music for wakeboarding and water skiing events as well as a few clubs.
Djs that have influenced me over the years are Simon Bassline Smith, Todd Terry, Fatboy Slim,
The Wax Equestrian, GrooveRider, Double Barrel Dave , Tony Blackburn and Jimmy Saville to name but a few.I am now working on producing tunes.... look out for the releases coming soon
Pokey and his daughter, Charley........here she's only 3 and already fighting for a go on the decks.......oh dear
See you soon playmates
